2. The Adult Support & Protection (Scotland) Act 2007 (the Act) has been in operation for a few years and a revised Code of Practice is necessary to reflect the way practice has developed since the Act came into force in 2008.

3. The review of the Code was undertaken in two stages. The first stage was to consult on the original use of the Code by the field, and the second stage was to review the Code informed by the findings of stage 1.
