Grant Scheme

NVZ Grant Scheme

This is a capital grant scheme relating to the cost of provision, replacement or improvement of a number of farm waste storage items. Grants are available at the rate of 40%, with an upper limit of £34,000 for any single business. A requirement of the scheme is that all work is completed by October 31 2005.

The relevant legislation is the Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (Grants) (Scotland) Scheme 2003 (SSI No 52), as amended by the Nitrate Vulnerable Zones (Grants) (Scotland) Amendment Scheme 2003 (SSI No 518)

Grant awards will assist farmers who require to improve their slurry storage to meet terms of NVZ Action Programme measures. The scheme is competitive, with the evaluation of applications based on a ranking system. This ensures that farmers who have the greatest need to improve storage will receive grant assistance.

Applications have been invited on a tranche basis. The 4th and last tranche, announced in October 2004, was due to close to applications on February 11 2005. However, because this is the final opportunity to apply, the period has been extended and will now close on February 28 2005.

Interested farmers should contact their local SEERAD Office. Guidance and application forms are available online. Guidance and application forms are available online.
