To give sound advice to Government on all aspects concerning fish capture we need an understanding of how fishing gears operate and how fish are caught by them.
Marine Scotland Science maintains a programme of research to help to improve our knowledge. Each research project may last about three years. Some of the current projects relating to fish capture issues are described briefly in this section:
