North West IFG

North West Inshore Fisheries Group (IFG) was one of the first six pilot IFGs to be launched. An initial meeting of the North West IFG's Executive Committee was held on 26 March 2009 in Inverness, and further meetings have since been held.

Fishermen's Associations which have registered an interest in the North West IFG, appointing a representative to the Executive Committee, are as follows:

  • Clyde Fishermen's Association
  • Mallaig and North West Fishermen's Association
  • Orkney Fishermen's Association
  • Scallop Association
  • Scottish Creeler's and Divers Association
  • Scottish Pelagic Fishermen's Association
  • Scottish White Fish Producer's Association
  • Western Isles Fishermen's Association
  • North Minch Shellfish Association
  • Inshore Fishermen's Association Torridon and Applecross
  • North West Responsible Fishing Association
  • Ross, Sutherland, Skye and Lochalsh Fishermens Association

Additionally, there is a seat on the Executive Committee for an elected representative of fishermen who are not members of Fishermen's Associations.

A Local Coordinator and Chairperson were appointed in August 2009. They are as follows:

  • Ailsa McLellan - North West IFG Executive Committee Local Coordinator
  • Colin Milne - North West IFG Executive Committee Chairperson

Meetings

Minutes of IFG Executive Committee meetings will be made public once approved as an accurate record by the Group at the following Executive Committee meeting. This is standard practice.

Between 23 and 26 November 2010 the NWIFG held public meetings on the local objectives and management plans for the North West fisheries. Records of the items discussed at these meetings were taken and can be accessed by contacting the Local Coordinator, Ailsa McLellan - a_mclellan@scotlandifg.co.uk
