The East Lewis and Harris area management agreement was originally signed in 2003 but with the introduction of an additional operator the AMA was re-signed in November 2005. The AMA covers the east coast of Lewis and Harris from Renish point in south Harris up to Rubha Alltan Pheadair just south of Stornoway. As covers a considerable coastline the AMA has been split into five more manageable areas; South Harris (management area 1), East Loch Tarbert (management area 2), Loch Seaforth and Claidh (management area 3), Loch Leurbost, Ordhairn and Shell (management area 4) and finally Grimshader (management area 5).
Each of these management areas have synchronised production with the other farms in the loch.
