There are two groups of Options:

Group 1 can be categorised as

• mainly Annual Recurrent land based Options under Axis 2 and equivalent Options under Axis 4 LEADER - these are the area related agri-environment and woodland on agricultural land Options, but you should check the Option specific guidance or speak to your area office or case officer if you are unsure.
• includes Animal Welfare options.
• does not include Options relating to Woodland Creation on non-agricultural land.
• claims are subject to the over-declaration breaches and penalties for area related measures (similar to the IACS penalties), scheme breaches and penalties, cross compliance and for Agri-environment Options minimum requirements for the protection of historic sites.

Group 2 can be categorised as

• measures under Axes 1 and 3 - mostly Options with payment for capital items including where a capital investment is realised on the ground - and certain options under Axis 2 e.g. the Woodland Creation Option establishment costs and non productive investments like fencing.
• claims are subject to the over-claim breaches and penalties, scheme breaches and penalties.
• capital-type Options under Axis 4 LEADER.
• not subject to cross compliance or the minimum requirements for the protection of historic sites.
