Rural Issues in Scotland - Rural Land

Scotland's rural land is one of its greatests assets, but it is also one upon which there are increasing and ever changing demands.

The Scottish Government recognises that there are competing pressures that need to be managed, and is committed to ensuring that Scotland can best use its rural land resource to produce its food, create its energy and support its rural communities.

A fundamental review of rural land use is currently underway. This will examine what Scotland's land is being used for, future potential uses of that land and the conflicting and complementary pressures on it, and inform decisions for years to come.
