Pack delighted with excellent response to call for evidence

The Inquiry's call for evidence has received around 110 responses.

Brian Pack said he was delighted by the response, which included around 47 responses from stakeholder bodies across a full range of interests with the remainder from individuals.

Mr Pack said:

"I am very grateful to those organisations and individuals who have taken the time to consider these complex issues and express their views on what the future for agricultural subsidies in Scotland should be. On a first look at the responses the solutions offered and problems to be overcome are wide ranging, confirming that stakeholders have really thought about the Inquiry's remit.

"This is the first stage of the Inquiry process and along with information gleaned from meetings with officials in London and Brussels, as well as from published reports, will inform the interim report which is due to be published at the end of the year.

"The interim report would be an important evidence base when the Inquiry moves into its public engagement phase after Christmas. This will provide a further opportunity for comment and include both a formal consultation and a series of stakeholder events all around Scotland."

Details of these events will be posted on this website and in the press.
