Pack Rearranges Western Isles Meetings
Brian Pack, Chairman of the Inquiry into Future Support for Agriculture in Scotland today announced that he was rearranging the dates for the two public meetings to discuss the Inquiry's Interim Report that were to be held in Benbecula and Stornoway.
The meetings originally scheduled for the 3rd and 4th of February will now be held at the Dark Island Hotel in Benbecula on Monday 15 March and the Caberfeidh Hotel in Stornoway on Tuesday 16 March 2010.
Mr Pack said "it was always going to be an ambitious and demanding schedule to do 4 meetings on consecutive nights in 4 different locations spread across Scotland and on reflection the logistics of doing all 4 meetings as planned is not now feasible".
Mr Pack also said that he "recognised how important it was for the people of the Western Isles to have their views heard and that it was right and proper that the meetings should be rearranged".
Although the rearranged meetings are after the closing date for responses to the consultation on the Interim Report, Mr Pack said that the Inquiry would accept responses from both individuals and organisations based in the Western Isles until Friday 19 March 2010.
The revised meeting schedule is now;
