Update December 2011 - New Cross Compliance requirement: Establishment of buffer strips along water courses.
The CAP Health check introduced a requirement for Member States to introduce a Good Agriculture and Environmental Condition (GAEC) measure to protect water against pollution and run-off. From 1st January 2012 new requirements relating to the establishment of buffer strips along water courses becomes part GAEC. Update October 2011 - Changes to the verifiable standards and breach classification tables
The verifiable standards and breach classification tables have been updated for 2011 -
- SMR 7 verifiable standards have been updated
- GAEC 19 Severity categories have been updated

Update September 2011 - Changes to the verifiable standards and breach classification tables
The verifiable standards and breach classification tables have been updated for 2011 (revised September 2011)-
- Minor severity and Minimum severity has been replaced by Very low and Low severities respectively.
- GAEC 7 verifiable standards have been updated.
- Minimum requirements for Plant Protection Products verifiable standards have been updated.
- Minimum requirements for Fertilisers verifiable standards have been updated.
- SMR 1 standards have been updated.
- SMR 4 standards have been updated.
- SMR 5 standards have been updated
- SMR 7 standards are currently being updated and will be published shortly
- SMR 8 standards are currently being updated and will be published shortly
- SMR 9 standards have been updated
- SMR 11 standards have been updated
- SMR 12 standards have been updated
- The follow up action and timescales for this to be completed for a 'Minor' breach has been clarified
