Forestry schemes

Introduction Young oak tree

The Rural Payments and Inspections Directorate (RPID) are responsible for administering 3 forestry schemes, which are collectively known as the Farm Woodland Schemes.

The application process for these schemes was set up as a joint venture between RPID and the Forestry Commission Scotland (FCS). This means that all applicants had to be accepted into the FCS schemes, namely the Woodland Grant Scheme (WGS) and the Scottish Forestry Grants Scheme (SFGS), before they could be accepted into any of the 3 RPID schemes. The purpose of this was to make sure that all applicants met certain environmental standards.

The first instalment claim was also managed by both RPID and the FCS. In this case the FCS pass the claim onto RPID once they have fulfilled the requirements of the WGS and the SFGS. The role of RPID is then to process the claim for the Farm Woodland Premium Scheme (FWPS) and the Scottish Forestry Grants Scheme Farmland Premium (SFGSFP).
