What is Passengers' View Scotland (PVS)?
The Transport (Scotland) Act 2005, which received Royal Assent on 5 August 2005, placed a duty on Scottish Ministers to establish a Public Transport Users' Committee for Scotland (PTUC).
During the passage of the Bill in Parliament the Minister for Transport gave a commitment to consult on the establishment of the new body prior to its creation. The outcome of the consultation favoured an integrated, high level, multi modal committee that took on the functions of the Bus Users' Complaints Tribunal (BUCT). The various consultation documents can be viewed in the information section.
The PTUC was established by legislation on 1 January 2007 to advise Scottish Ministers in relation to public transport policy. A Convener was appointed in February 2007 with the 11 members being appointed in April 2007. All members were appointed under the Office of the Commissioner of Public Appointments in Scotland's Code of Practice.
The PTUC operates under the name Passengers' View Scotland (PVS). PTUC first met in April 2007 and meets quarterly. Minutes of the Committee's Meetings can be viewed in the Meetings section.
