National Concessionary Travel Scheme- Blind People

Under the Scotland-wide Free Bus Travel Scheme for Older and Disabled People, blind people who are resident in Scotland can apply for a National Entitlement Companion Card. This entitles the holder to free travel on local registered bus services and long distance scheduled bus services throughout Scotland. If the cardholder requires the help of a companion whilst travelling the companion may also travel free of charge provided they both board and alight the bus together at the same stops. Application for a National Entitlement Companion Card should be made to your local authority.

The National Concessionary Travel Scheme for Blind People is operated by local authorities on a voluntary basis and provides blind and partially sighted people with free rail and ferry travel throughout Scotland. The scheme does not, however, include free travel for their companions. Some local authorities offer companion concessions at their discretion for local rail travel. You should contact your local authority for further information.
