The vision and plans for the SNS dissemination system were developed by the SNS Development Group in 2001.
The first version of the SNS dissemination system went live on the Internet in June 2003. The project was led and managed by Edina Software , with the consulting and technical team including staff from both Edina Software and GeoWise Primary technical responsibility for the user interface and mapping resided with GeoWise and primary technical responsibility for database, maintenance applications, data upload tools and data-manipulation services resided with Edina Software
An updated SNS dissemination system will go live spring 2004 which will provide support for the data zone geography and a data administration toolkit to allow data suppliers to manage their own data delivery to the system.
