SEIAG/02/12 - REPORT FROM THE SCOTXED TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP
1. The remit and membership of the ScotXed technical working group is attached at Annex A
2. The Group met for the first time on 21 November. All parties, including SEED's ScotXed technical consultants, were represented, apart from CoSLA. SEED will contact CoSLA to clarify the position.
3. The minutes of the first meeting are attached at Annex B. The Technical Working Group looked at 3 issues. The latest version of the requirement for staff data collection is attached at Annex C. The attendance, absence and exclusions paper was approved from presentation to SEAIG and is attached at Annex D. The main area of concern was the requirement for legal definitions of certain fields and for clear and comprehensive guidance notes. For the 5-14 proposals, concern was raised about the burden of implementation for some authorities. These are discussed in the paper at Annex E.
4. SEIAG is asked to:
- approve the proposed changes to the DIA
- agree whether or not SEED should pursue the collection of pupil-level 5-14 attainment data in June 2003 in light of the current position, or whether this collection should be deferred until June 2004
