Local Authority Level Cultural Participation and Attendance Statistics: additional tables from the main Scottish Household Survey 2007/2008
Overview
- Questions on cultural participation and attendance were included in the Scottish Household Survey (SHS) in 2007-2008, and results at local authority level are now available for the first time.
- A table giving headline proportions of local authority residents who took part in cultural activities and attended cultural events is shown below.
- Differences between local authorities will depend on a number of different factors, including the characteristics of the population in the area (for example: age; deprivation; education; disability) as well as the availability of events and facilities.
- Full tables providing breakdowns by specific activity and event categories, as well as additional information (for example: age, gender, highest qualification of respondent), are provided via the Scottish Household Survey Local Authority Tables.
- The influence of socio-economic factors at a national level is explored in the People and Culture in Scotland reports.
