ScotStat Register

The ScotStat register allows users and providers of Scottish Statistics to record their interest in specific topics. The register will then be used to target those interested in a particular statistical area:

  • To consult on new collections,
  • To seek views on changes to existing collections and
  • To provide notification of new or forthcoming publications.

School Education - Consultation - ScotStat

Consultation is a key part of the work Scottish Government statisticians undertake to ensure that the data we collect, analyse and publish meets the varied needs of users. Over time our engagement with users has moved away from large formal meetings to a much more flexible approach which draws information about user need from all users and through a variety of approaches. We recognise that not all users have the same requirements and priorities will not be the same. However, by working with users throughout the year, the Scottish Government is looking to understand these needs and then to decide on priorities and action.

The current priority is to deliver a streamlined set of publications which bring together related statistics and thus provide a more coherent description of the school education system. As part of this work we are also looking to provide greater access through background datasets and spreadsheets so that those who want to look beyond the headline statistics are able to do so. The following links provide information on our approach to engaging with users.
