School Attendance
During 2010/11 the total rate of absence for primary schools was 5.2% with 0.02% due to temporary exclusions. The percentage attendance in primary schools by local authority ranged from 92.6% (Glasgow City) to 96.3% (East Renfrewshire).
The total rate of absence for secondary schools was 8.8%, with 0.11% due to temporary exclusions. The percentage attendance in secondary schools by local authority ranged from 89.5% (North Lanarkshire) to 93.9% (East Renfrewshire).
In general, schools with higher levels of deprivation had higher levels of absence, although there were many schools which did not follow this trend. 4.4% of pupils had a perfect attendance record.
