Pupil Numbers
In 2011 there were 670,511 pupils in publicly funded schools. The number has fallen from 673,133 in 2010. The latest projections suggest that pupil numbers in publicly funded schools are projected to decrease steadily to 662 thousand in 2015, then rise until peaking at 684 thousand in 2022.
