Scottish Survey of Achievement

The Scottish Survey of Achievement is a sample survey which monitors how well pupils in Scotland are learning at P3, P5, P7 and S2. The most recent available data shown below are from the 2009 reading and writing survey.

The proportion of pupils demonstrating 'well-established' or better reading skills at the expected level for the stage was over 75% at P3 pupils. This decreased gradually through the stages, to around 40% at S2.
