Family Health Service
Family Health Services consists of General Practice, community pharmacies, dentists and ophthalmic services.
In the year to 31 st March 2011, there were 1.8m NHS eye examinations carried out, and 2.2m dental examinations. It is estimated that there were about 24 million face to face contacts with GPs and practice nurses.
In 2010-11, almost 91 million prescriptions were dispensed in the community. This number has been increasing each year.
