International Exports
Scottish international exports in 2009 were provisionally estimated to be £21,140 million, an increase of £535 million since 2008, with exports to the North America increasing by +£290 million. Exports to Asia declined the most over the period (-£220 million). Of the allocable figures, exports to the EU between 2008 and 2009 grew by £15 million.
In 2009, the top destination for international exports was the USA, which accounted for an estimated £3,285 million (15.5% of total exports). The USA, Netherlands, France, Germany, and Belgium are the top 5 markets for Scottish exporters, and together they account for 43% of the total international exports (further data are available from the Global Connections Survey).
