Young People in Residential Care - Secure Care Accomodation only available from 2004/05
Title: Young people in secure care accommodation with data available on children in non-secure accommodation until 2003/04. Information also available on young people in dedicated close support care accommodation from 2009/10.

Description: Local authorities have a responsibility to provide accommodation and support to children who need it. The bulletin gives the characteristics of these children and the care establishments they live in.
Key variables: information on secure care units (places, emergency bed usage, average cost per bed per week, staffing and secure authorisations turned down) and characteristics of the young person, admissions and discharges in secure care and close support accommodation. Please note that data on children in non-secure residential accommodation (collected from the residential survey) is available until 2003/04 but the secure accommodation census is still ongoing. Some data on residential accommodation is available through the Children Looked After survey at - Children Looked After.
