Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics (SNS) is the Scottish Government's on-going programme to improve the availability, consistency and accessibility of small area statistics in Scotland.

Key Sector Statistics Database

The key sector statistics database provides economic statistics for the six private sector dominated key sectors as set out in the Government Economic Strategy.

Please note that Key sector data will not be produced on a SIC 2007 code basis from SABS until agreement has been reached regarding which codes should be included under each heading. Input-Output Tables and Multipliers for Scotland

Input-Output tables provide a complete picture of the flows of products and services in the economy for a given year, illustrating the relationship between producers and consumers and the interdependencies of industries.

Scottish Corporate Sector Statistics

Scottish Corporate Sector Statistics (SCSS) provide information on enterprises operating in Scotland. The tables include information on businesses' employment and turnover and are broken down into various groupings including industry, company size, local authority area, and country of ownership.

Scottish Export Statistics

There are two sources of data on Scottish Exports: the Global Connections Survey and the Index of Manufactured Exports.

Economic Pocket Databank

The Economic Pocket Databank is a summary of the key statistics on Scotland's economy. It contains information on the Scottish Labour Market, GDP, and other main economic indicators, including comparisons to the UK and other countries.

UK and Regional Annual Business Survey - From 2009 onwards

UK and Regional Annual Business Inquiry - Upto 2008

UK and Regional Annual Business Survey (formerly Annual Business Inquiry) statistics produced by the Office for National Statistics.

Regional Economic Activity (GVA)

Shows economic activity as measured by Gross Value Added (GVA) for English regions, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland including component totals and industry group totals produced by the Office for National Statistics.

The Virtual Microdata Laboratory (VML)

The Virtual Microdata Laboratory (VML) is a facility within the Office for National Statistics (ONS) which enables access to restricted microdata for research purposes. Researchers from government and academia use the VML to carry out research on ONS surveys and other confidential datasets.

UK Creative Industries data sourced to DCMS

Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) publishes UK Creative Industries data. Link also contains technical information on compiling statistics for this industry. Please note that there are some methodology differences between DCMS publication and Scottish Creative Industries data published from SABS.

Scottish Business Insider

Individual companies cannot be identified in production of Annual Business Survey data for confidentiality reasons. Some analysts find the Scottish Business Insider a useful alternative source of information as it provides data on the top 500 companies in Scotland.

Scottish Business Information Service

Scottish Business Information Service (SCOTBIS) provides a research service for businesses across Scotland. SCOTBIS is based on the vast resources of the National Library of Scotland (NLS). At NLS you can access market research reports, business databases, international directories, and business and trade journals.
