All Livestock
The value of agricultural livestock production on farms was around £1.3 billion in Scotland in 2010 and accounted for over half of all agricultural output in Scotland.

Cattle
The total number of cattle decreased by 21,150 (1.2 per cent) to 1.80 million in 2011. The number of dairy cattle decreased by 2,100 (0.8 per cent) to 269,200 with the number of dairy cows falling by 1.2 per cent to 182,200. The number of beef cattle fell by 14,900 (1.5 percent ) to 986,500 with the number of beef cows rising by 0.5 per cent to 459,300. The number of calves decreased by 0.7 per cent to 527,800 and the number of bulls fell by 1 per cent to 22,400.
In 2010 the value of finished cattle and calves increased by 6% to £491.8 million and the value of milk and other dairy products amounted to £272 million.
Sheep
In 2011 the number of sheep on Scottish farms rose by 46,300 (0.7 per cent) to 6.80 million the first increase since 1998, mainly due to an increase of 57,000 (1.7 per cent) to 3.33 million in the number of lambs. The number of breeding ewes decreased by 3,500 to 2.64 million.
The value of finished sheep and lambs in 2010 was £198.7 million and the value of clipwool was £3.5 million.
Pigs
The Scottish pig herd fell by 20,700 (5 per cent) to 390,000 in 2011 with the breeding herd decreasing by 2,600 (6.6 per cent) to 36,300. The value of the finished pig sector in 2010 was £64 million.
Poultry
The poultry flock in Scotland was 14.53 million birds in 2011 down (0.3 per cent) on 2010. The number of table fowls fell by 698,000 (7.7 per cent) to 8.08 million. The number of fowls for producing eggs increased by 465,000 (10.2 per cent) to 5.03 million. The breeding fowl flock increased by 170,000 (14.5 per cent) to 1.34 million birds.
The value of poultrymeat output in 2010 was £91.8 million with an additional output of £43 million from the production of eggs for food.
Other livestock
At June 2011 there were 36,900 horses, 6,000 deer, 3,800 goats , 800 camelids and 1,600 other livestock on farms in Scotland. The value of agricultural output from these species of livestock was estimated to be £18 million in 2010.
