POULTRY
The poultry flock in Scotland was 14.53 million birds in 2011 down (0.3 per cent) on 2010. The number of table fowls fell by 698,000 (7.7 per cent) to 8.08 million. The number of fowls for producing eggs increased by 465,000 (10.2 per cent) to 5.03 million and the breeding fowl flock increased by 170,000 (14.5 per cent) to 1.34 million birds.
The value of poultrymeat output in 2010 was £91.8 million with an additional output of £43 million from the production of eggs for food.
