POTATOES

Over 31,000 hectares of potatoes were planted on 2,950 farms in Scotland in 2011. 13,300 hectares were planted mainly for the production of seed potatoes and 17,800 for ware potato production. The estimated value of the potato crop in 2010 was £186 million.
