What do these statistics cover?
Scottish Corporate Sector Statistics provide information on enterprises operating in Scotland. The tables include information on businesses' employment and turnover and are broken down into various groupings including industry, company size, local authority area, local enterprise company area, and country of ownership.
What year do tables relate to?
The latest figures relate to March 2006 and were released on 11th December 2006 (March 2005 data was published simultaneously). Most tables provide time series data from 2000-2006, with some information available back to 1998.
When will the figures be updated?
It is the aim to publish the 2007 Scottish Corporate Sector Statistics as soon as possible after the release of the Office for National Statistics' (ONS) UK Business Activity publication, which is due out in Autumn 2007.
Latest News
The Scottish Executive has changed the timetable for the Corporate Sector Statistics. The publication is now based on a March extract from the Inter Departmental Business Register (IDBR) which allows more timely and comparable analysis with the rest of the UK. Previous analyses have been based on a November extract.
To help with the transition, 2 years of March based analysis (2005 and 2006) have been made available together.
