REMIT
1. To consider the impact of the Scottish Neighbourhood Statistics (SNS) Project on the current collections of local authority community care and criminal justice social work data.
2. To agree a strategy which will allow the future collections of data to meet the SNS project requirements.
In arriving at this strategy, the following issues will require to be discussed and agreed:
- Consideration of the advantages (and any perceived disadvantages) both to local authorities and the Executive, of returning anonymised individual client based information. These would include discussion on the use of GIS, linkage with other data sources and possible changes to the format of the information published.
- Agreement to the level of information which can be made available to SNS.
- Identification of methods of assisting local authorities to achieve anonymised individual client returns for 2003, including the use of external resources where appropriate.
3. To pilot, test and approve, as required, agreed enhancements in data collection.
4. To disseminate the findings, agreements and decisions taken by the sub group to all Local Authorities both through the SWSLG and directly where necessary.
