CSO aims to ensure the widest and fastest possible dissemination of the research it supports; thereby encouraging the rapid uptake of research findings into clinical practice. Final reports are produced on all completed CSO funded projects, and executive summaries of these reports are published on our webpages. These summaries are produced in a standard format and researchers are asked to ensure that the general message of the study will be clear to a non-specialist. This helps to improve access to, and dissemination of, research findings. We also set great store by journal publication as the primary means of disseminating findings to the wider research community.
To encourage a culture of evidence-based practice, CSO is also involved in:
- the UKCRN Portfolio Database - a database of clinical and related research in the UK
- NHS Centre for Review and Dissemination, responsible for disseminating the Cochrane library, Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE), NHS Economic Evaluation database (NHS HEED), and Health Technology and Assessment (HTA) database
