Sub-project 2: Decision-making

  • identify the roles and interactions of key actors and institutions that influence and participate in decision-making for rural land use and management;
  • review existing evidence on how different actors and institutions make land use and land change decisions;
  • explore influences and priorities for different types of actors and institutions involved in land management, including their motivations, relevant constraints, and the sources of information they use;
  • outline how rural communities are involved in and affected by different types of land use decision (including social and economic impacts);
  • develop a typology of actors involved in decision-making about how rural land is used and managed.
