Dedicated CAMERAS Website Launched

A dedicated CAMERAS website has been launched to provide news updates, information on partnership activites and links to documents.

The CAMERAS Board have published the first CAMERAS Annual Report, covering 2009-10. The CAMERAS Chair Sue Walker said:

"It has been a busy and productive first year for the CAMERAS Board, with a sucessfull science conference held in March and work underway on four strategies. As Chair of the Board, what has struck me during this first year is the energy, enthusiasm and appetite for the initiative. I look forward to a very constructive year ahead."

The first CAMERAS Science conference took place in Discovery Point, Dundee. The conference brought together scientist from the CAMERAS partner organisations, Scottish research institutes and universities, and focused on three themes: ecosystem services, food security and low carbon economy.

Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment Richard Lochhead said:

"Scotland has a world-renowned reputation for scientific excellence and makes a vital contribution to our everyday lives. Today's first ever Coordinated Agenda for Marine, Environment and Rural Affairs Science (CAMERAS) conference brings together experts from across the public sector, research institutes and academia to address big future challenges such as climate change and food security.

"CAMERAS was set up last year to coordinate public sector science funding of more than £135 million, to encourage partners to work together more effectively and focus research on the major issues of responding to global change and maximising natural assets."
