Are you a child or young person?

Feeling safeWhat Getting it right means for you

Everyone who looks after you needs to make sure you are loved. They need to give you healthy food, treat you with respect and give you a safe, warm home to live in.

Getting it right for every child and young person is the Scottish Government's way of helping people make sure you are alright. Those people are your parents, family or carers, your teachers, your doctor, the school nurse - in fact anyone who helps take care of you.

As an example, it means your teacher shouldn't just be concerned about your school work (although that's important) - they should try to help you if you seem unhappy or if something is bothering you.

We call this your rights and well-being. It's about how you are as a whole person - how things are going at home, what's worrying you, how you're feeling.

It's about giving you the best possible start in life.

How do I get the best possible start in life?
