Disability

There has been some research on access to transport and disabled people in Scotland. With reference to public transport, many disabled people still face barriers in terms of access to buses and trains, particularly those people in wheel chairs or those who have difficulty walking. There are also safety issues for women (particularly women living in deprived areas), disabled people and minority ethnic people which need to be taken into account, not only with reference to the modes of transport but also in relation to train stations, bus stations, bus stops, cycle routes, etc.
