Questions

Questions you should consider when planning research or policy projects:

  • How might the experiences of men and women differ?
  • Might age make a difference?
  • Would older men and women be affected in the same way?
  • How might the experiences of people from minority ethnic groups differ?
  • Would minority ethnic men and women be affected in the same way?
  • How might the experiences of disabled people differ?
  • Would disabled men and women be affected in the same way?
  • Might religion, sexual orientation, or social class make a difference?
  • Might issues pertinent to refugees and asylum seekers or Gypsies/Travellers need consideration here?
  • Might a consideration of the different needs of urban and rural areas have an impact?
  • How could the project be made inclusive of the experiences/needs of different equality groups?
  • Would it be of benefit to engage with representatives from appropriate equality related organisations regarding the proposed project at an early stage? Thereafter who else might we consult and how?

Is there inequality or potential for inequality that can be identified in any given area? If so, what can you do about it?
