Mainstreaming Equalities in Agriculture and Rural Development

Mainstreaming EqualityAgriculture & Rural Development Highland Cow

The policy areas of agriculture and rural affairs clearly embrace a wide range of issues and concerns. Rural affairs is often a gateway to looking at the differences between 'rural' and 'urban', and is itself a cross-cutting issue in the same way as equality.

The needs of women, older people, disabled people, people from minority ethnic groups, LGBT (lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transgender people) and those from various faith groups living in rural Scotland can be different from those living in urban areas so this should be considered when developing policy or research that could have an impact on them.
