FSEC Development

Fire Service Emergency Cover (FSEC) Toolkit Development

FSEC was rolled out across Britain in 2004. All Scottish and Welsh Fire and Rescue Services (FRSs) are using it, as are 45 of the 48 FRSs in England. When it was rolled out, the Department for Communities and Local Government (CLG) supplied FRSs with a complete package of software, hardware and data. Over time the software has been updated and supported, and FRSs were responsible for the maintenance of their own data. The hardware is now aging and CLG have carried out a total hardware refresh and FSEC relaunch in April/May 2010.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Advisory Unit will support a refresh of the Fire Service Emergency Cover (FSEC) Toolkit hardware and manage further exploitation of the FSEC Toolkit. We will lead the FSEC refresh process, determine and deliver the necessary training and information throughout the Scottish FRSs and will ensure that the FSEC model is fully used both within Scottish Government and throughout Scottish FRSs.
