Purpose of the circular: To advise forces that that the qualifying period for the Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal has been reduced from 22 to 20 years service.

Summary of contents: After consultation with stakeholders it was agreed that the eligibility for the Police Long Service and Good Conduct Medal should be reduced from 22 to 20 years service, in line with other emergency services.

The Royal warrant introducing the amendment was approved on 19 January 2010 and eligibility is with effect from that date. The announcement of the amendment was formally made in the London Gazette on 7 July 2010.
