Many people may have an old airgun lying around in the attic, or in a cupboard, which is just gathering dust. You might think it is safe, but think carefully about whether or not you need to hold on to it.
Airguns are not toys, but if found by a child, they might not realise that.
Anyone who wants to hand in a firearm should contact their local police station.
Assistant Chief Constable Colin Menzies of Grampian Police advises that:
"Weapons may be handed in to any police station and should be transported in a suitable, secure and covered manner so as not to cause alarm to any other person. We all have a responsibility to make our communities safer and taking these items out of circulation will help this process."
