Standards Development
The standards are being created by following NHS Quality Improvement Scotland's methodology. A Scoping Report and a detailed Project Plan have been produced. These form working documents for the group. The current plan of work is as follows:
April to Oct 2010: Create draft standards.
Aug to Oct 2010: Create evaluation tool.
Oct to Nov 2010: Sense check by Reference Group.
Nov/Dec 2010: Publish draft standards.
Nov/Dec to Jan/Feb 2011: Public consultation and pilot evaluation tool.
Feb to May 2011: Finalise standards and evaluation tool.
June 2011: Publish standards and evaluation tool (and supporting guidance).
Draft standards are currently being prepared and reviewed on the themes that emerged during the scoping exercise:
· Anticipatory and integrated approaches to care (covering referral and screening, clinical assessment and review, care planning, and patient pathways)
· Information management and communication
· User and staff training and development
· Safety (covering equipment management, repairs and maintenance, quality management and service improvement).
