The National Cancer Quality Steering Group reports to the Scottish Cancer Taskforce and is chaired by Dr Hilary Dobson, Regional Cancer Lead Clinician, West of Scotland Cancer Network.
On Friday 13 November 2009, the National Cancer Quality Steering Group hosted a successful half day workshop entitled Better Cancer Care: Assuring Healthcare Quality. The aim of the workshop was to develop a shared understanding of the group's vision for assuring quality cancer care and to discuss the development of national Quality Performance Indicators. For more information and to view the presentations given at the event, please click on the link above.
Remit
- To provide strategic leadership to deliver the commitments in Better Cancer Care which relate to quality improvement in cancer services.
- To ensure that all quality related work streams relating to cancer that are being progressed by other sub groups of the Scottish Cancer Taskforce and NHS organisations/Government Departments are coordinated and aligned with the agreed national quality framework. For example, standards development, cancer information and eHealth, the patient safety programme, improvement and support team's work in relation to waiting times and the patient experience programme.
View the group's workplan for 2009/10. This is an evolving document and may be subject to amendment throughout the year.
Membership
Membership includes representatives from the three regional cancer networks, NHS Quality Improvement Scotland, NHS Information Services Division, NHS Education for Scotland and the Scottish Government.
Representatives from other organisations are invited to meetings on an ad hoc basis according to the agenda.
Action notes and papers
Please select the links below to view action notes of past NCQSG meetings:
Please note that there is always a delay in publishing action notes, since action notes taken from a meeting must be formally agreed by the group at the subsequent meeting before they become a public document. Action notes will be circulated to group members shortly after each advisory group meeting, but will remain as a draft until they have been formally agreed in this way. Minutes will usually appear online within a month of the subsequent meeting. Should you have any questions, please contact the Cancer Strategies Team.
