**New** A guide for Local Authorities: Equipment and adaptations - Providing Information for Service Users and Example Service User Leaflet: This guide, and accompanying example leaflet, have been developed to provide advice to local authorities on providing clear accessible information to service users and carers on accessing equipment and adaptations within their area.
The example leaflet can be used as a template by local areas to develop their own information leaflet.
**New**Funding guides for major adaptations: A suite of four guides providing information on the funding options for major adaptations in the different housing tenures.
Equipment
- Effective Recycling of Community Equipment: A paper highlighting the potential financial benefits to be made through the effective recycling of community equipment by health and social care partnerships.
- Effectiveness and Value of Equipment and Adaptations: Published in September 2010, the paper highlights through case studies the savings that can be achieved by Health and Social Care Partnerships throught the effective use of equipment and adaptations in place of other care services such as care homes and home carers.
- A Good Practice Guide for the Provision of Community Equipment Services was published alongside the guidance in Devember 2009. The Guide aims to support local equipment services to effectively develop, deliver, manage and monitor the provision of equipment, from the point of assessment through to delivery, and the conclusion of the assessment process.
- A Self Evaluation Toolkit to accompany the Guide was published in March 2010.
Adaptations
- Good Practice Guide for the Provision of Major Adaptations: Following the Major Adaptations Scoping Exercise, detailed below, we have now published this Good Practice Guide. The Guide aims to support local services to effectively develop, deliver, manage and monitor the provision of major adaptations from the point of assessment through to provision, and the conclusion of the assessment process.
- Guide to Funding a Major Adaptation: Published in August 2010. This Guide aims to assist professionals involved in the assessment for, and commissioning of, major adaptations. It describes the main sources of funding for undertaking major adaptations to peoples' homes. Its focus is mainly on public sector sources of funding, but it also contains information about funding of 'personal' contributions by individuals where these are required.

Consultation Reports and Documents
- Major Adaptations Scoping Report. A report detailing the key finding from the Major Adaptations Scoping Exercise has now been published. The findings of this report have been used to develop a Good Practice Guide to Major Adaptations. The guide will be issued for consultation shortly with a view to publishing the final version at the end of the year.
