LINKS BETWEEN THE PATIENT RIGHTS (SCOTLAND) ACT 2011 AND OTHER SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT HEALTH PROGRAMMES AND STRATEGIES
NHS Quality Strategy
The NHS Quality Strategy is a blueprint for improving the quality of care patients receive from the NHS. Patients will be encouraged to be partners in their own care and the quality of care provided by the NHS will be measured through the experience of patients, with the information gathered being used to drive up standards.

Better Together: Scotland's Patient Experience Programme
Better Together: Scotland's Patient Experience Programme will provide a measure of progress against the delivery of patient-focussed services by Health Boards, which reflect the principles in the Act. Better Together will use an evidence-based approach, including surveys, focus groups and the collection of patient stories, to find out about patients' experiences of their care in the NHS.

Scottish Patient Safety Programme
The Scottish Patient Safety Programme aims to steadily improve the safety of hospital care across the country, using evidence-based tools and techniques to improve the reliability and safety of everyday health care systems and processes.

Participation Standard
The Participation Standard is a new assessment tool which, from April 2010, has been used to measure patient focus and public involvement activity across NHSScotland. It focuses on three key areas: Patient Focus; Involving People in Service Planning, Improvement and Change (Public Involvement); and Corporate Governance of Participation. Each key area contains a standard statement of purpose and a clear rationale for activity to achieve better outcomes and is supported by a wide range of criteria which Boards must demonstrate action against.
