Following the publication of Trust, Assurance and Safety, a number of UK Implementation Groups were established by the previous UK Government. The Scottish Government ensured that there was input from Scotland to all of these Groups except the last on Health for Health Professionals, as Scotland was not part of its considerations.
Medical Revalidation and Education
This group, chaired by Professor Sir Liam Donaldson, former Chief Medical Officer for England, concluded its considerations on 28 February 2008. Its report Medical Revalidation - Principles and Next Steps was published on 23 July 2008.
Non-Medical Revalidation
This group, initially chaired by Professor Jim Smith, Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Policy at the University of Sunderland, published its final report on 27 November 2008
Extending Professional Regulation
The group was chaired by Moira Livingston. Its final report was published on 16 July 2009.
Tackling Concerns Locally
This group was chaired by Professor Jenny Simpson OBE, then Chief Executive of the British Association of Medical Managers. It's final report was published on 20 March 2009
Enhancing Confidence in Healthcare Professional Regulators
This working group was then chaired by Niall Dickson, then Chief Executive of the King's Fund. Its third and final meeting took place on 6 November 2007. It's final report was published on 2 June 2008.
Tackling Concerns Nationally
The Chair was Sir Ian Kennedy, Chair of the Healthcare Commission and Emeritus Professor of Health Law, Ethics and Policy at University College London. It's final report was published on 20 March 2009.
Health for Health Professionals
This Group was chaired by Professor Alastair Scotland, Director of the National Clinical Assessment Service and Scotland was not part of its considerations.
