Review Process

Review Process

How is the review being done?

Communication with stakeholders and frontline nurses and midwives is vital to the success of the project therefore an inclusive collaborative model was developed to take the project forward. The components of this model include a Stakeholder Groups and Regional Networks.

The remit of the Stakeholder Group is to inform the review by providing comment and advice on any local/national implications of findings or proposed recommendations and the purpose of the Regional Networks is to ensure participation and expet contribution in the project by nurses and midwives from a range of specialities including adult acute care, paediatrics and neonatal nursing, midwifery, communicty hospitals, mental health and learning disabilities.

In addition to the above the review is being informed by current post-holders and other stakeholders through regional workshops. The workshops will take place during September with delegates from:

  • Existing Senior Charge Nurses/Ward Sisters
  • Front-line nurses and midwives from all disciplines
  • Nurse Managers
  • General Managers
  • Members of the Public
  • Medical Staff

Surrent post-holders will also be surveyed during August/September regarding their experience of the role.

Project Timescales

It is anticipated that the final report of the Senior Charge Nurse/Ward Sister Review will be completed by April 2007, with the report on the outcomes of the pilot work being completed July 2007.
