Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) make a key contribution to building the capacity and capability of the workforce, delivering and improving health services in areas of work such as diet and exercise, diagnostics, rehabilitation, and long-term conditions - priority areas which are considered global health challenges.
The Chief Health Professions Officer (CHPO) for Scotland has been working on behalf of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and in partnership with the UK and international CHPOs to develop a model of support for international interprofessional networking called the Health Professionals Global Network (HPGN), with the overall aim to promote a multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary collaborative approach towards achieving global health related outcomes. One of the key strands of HPGN, was to establish a Global Community of Practice for Rehabilitation (GCoPR), an online forum open to all who are working in the field of rehabilitation, which was successfully launched June 1 2009.
