Supporting Improvement

Applying Quality Improvement Science to Performance Challenges

The Quality and Efficiency Support Team (QuEST)

QuEST is a team of specialists who have particular experience in priority workstreams and work in partnership across the SGHD.

The team supports the delivery of quality and efficiency within NHSScotland by co ordinating the implementation of the NHS Efficiency and Productivity Framework, providing support to NHS Boards through benchmarking, data development and its associated toolkits.

We focus on high-volume, high-cost services and key priority areas, identify and test innovations which could lead to improved levels of performance as well as assisting NHS Boards to assess the impact of redesign on the workforce, the impact of workforce changes on service redesign and provide support to NHS Boards who may require additional help to identify and release efficiencies or where performance challenges are identified.

This is achieved by developing capacity and capability for continuous improvement by adopting technical and behavioural change management to support clinical systems improvement and service innovation. Our on-line Continuous Improvement Toolkit is specifically designed to assist in continuous improvement.

The Quality Improvement Hub Website

The Hub replaces the Improving NHSScotland website, all of our programme pages and the BQBV Toolkit have been migrated over to the new website. Our Improvement Tools and Case Studies are in the process of being moved over and will be unavailable until the process is completed.

The new site contains extensive information on all of our current programmes and is updated regularly with latest news, events, BQBV toolkit, improvement tools, and case studies. Please visit http://www.qihub.scot.nhs.uk/
