Local Infection Monitoring

Local NHS Board Surveillance and Monitoring, including hospital level data

For the first time ever, local information on monitoring and surveillance of healthcare associated infections is being published. To see the latest information from each health board area, click on the links below.

Each board carries out a wide range of monitoring and the results are reported using a standardised national template introduced in January 2009. These will be presented at board meetings on a bi-monthly basis and published on board websites. The first reports were published in January and all boards will have completed their first reports by the end of March.

Work is continuing to ensure the reports contain as much information as is available and are as user-friendly as possible.

The data presented by NHS Boards are broken down by hospital and specialty. They are not validated in the same way as national surveillance programmes and should therefore be treated with caution. However, they do provide more detailed and up to date information on HAI activities at the local level.
