There are two national targets associated with healthcare associated infections.
Current progress towards these targets is published through the Scottish Government's'Scotland Performs'site.
The Scottish Government works closely with the NHS to ensure that the risks of healthcare associated infections are kept to a minimum. The key ways in which this is achieved is through:
The Healthcare Associated Infection Task Force
The HAI Task Force is responsible for advising Scottish Government on policy development to tackle healthcare associated infections.
Healthcare Associated Infection Delivery Plans
The HAI Taskforce Delivery Plans capture the detail of the action being taken by Scottish Government, NHS Boards and key stakeholder agencies to reduce healthcare associated infections. The current programme of work is running from April 2008 to March 2011.
HAI Funding and Budgets
The Scottish Government is providing over £50 million of additional funding between 2008 and 2011 to NHS Boards and key national stakeholder agencies to tackle healthcare associated infections.
