Getting involved

How To Get Involved

Better Health, Better Care: A Discussion Document sets out some of the approaches that we believe are necessary in order to meet our strategic objective of helping people to sustain and improve their health, especially in disadvantaged communities, ensuring better, local and faster access to health care. We invite you to take part in a discussion about these approaches, to help shape our priorities and in particular, define the actions that you would like to see prioritised by the new Government and NHS Scotland over the next few years. It reflects our commitment to consult and involve as many people as possible in the development of our plans. This will help us to build and sustain a consensus behind the approach we take as a Nation to promoting and protecting our health and wellbeing.

We are inviting responses to the discussion paper by 12 November 2007.

There are a number of ways that you can get involved in this discussion:

1. By writing to the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing, Nicola Sturgeon:

by email: betterhealthbettercare@scotland.gsi.gov.uk

or

by completing the online comments form

or

by post to:

Better Health, Better Care Consultation
Scottish Executive
St Andrew's House
Edinburgh
EH1 3DG

The only thing we ask is that if you choose to write to us by post or email, that you complete and return the Respondent Information Form. This will ensure that we treat your response appropriately. The online comments form incorporates the respondent information form.

If you ask for your response not to be published we will regard it as confidential. You should be aware that the Scottish Executive is subject to the provisions of the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 and and would therefore have to consider any request made to it under the Act for information relating to responses made to this consultation exercise.

2. By participating in one of the discussions we are planning across Scotland.

Two World Café Events will be held in Glasgow on 23 October 2007 and in Aberdeen on 5 November 2007. ( Further details).

What Happens Next

Our aim is to consider all responses and views received by the closing date of Monday, 12 November 2007 and publish our action plan for Health and Wellbeing by the end of the year.
